Therapy for Neurodivergent and Highly Sensitive Adults

Affirming care for Autistic, ADHD, and Highly Sensitive (HSP) adults who feel deeply, think deeply, and often feel overwhelmed by a world that moves too fast.

Online therapy for neurodivergent and highly sensitive adults in California, Illinois, and Missouri

If you're a neurodivergent adult (Autistic, ADHD, highly sensitive, or exploring your identity) you may be navigating a world that wasn’t built for you and carrying the weight of feeling like “too much.” Maybe you’ve spent years pushing yourself to “fit in,” managing overwhelm, and trying to meet neurotypical expectations, only to feel burnt out, anxious, or disconnected from who you really are.

You might also be:

  • Struggling with sensory overload, social fatigue, or executive functioning challenges

  • Feeling ashamed or unsure about your neurodivergent identity

  • Burnt out from masking and constant self-monitoring

  • Cry “too easily,” need more downtime, or have strong empathy responses

  • Experiencing relationship challenges due to communication differences or unmet needs

  • Feeling misunderstood by friends, family, or even past therapists

  • Holding unprocessed grief from years of invalidation or misattunement

You deserve therapy that meets you where you are, not where others expect you to be.

You don’t need to mask or “toughen up” to be accepted here.

What Is Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy?

Neurodivergent-affirming therapy recognizes that your brain isn’t “wrong” or “broken”—it’s wired differently, and that difference is valid. This approach honors your sensory, emotional, and cognitive experiences without pathologizing them. Instead of trying to change who you are, therapy focuses on understanding your needs, reducing internalized ableism, and supporting self-acceptance.

In our work together, we’ll move at your pace. You’ll never be pressured to perform, mask, or make eye contact. You get to show up as your full self! You are welcome to fidget, stim, pause, or say “I don’t know” and be met with care and curiosity.

My Approach to Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy

My style is warm, soft, validating, and collaborative. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all strategies, so to support neurodivergent adults, I draw from a combination of a few different approaches:

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS): Helping you relate to internal parts with compassion, especially parts shaped by masking, rejection, or anxiety.

  • Self-Compassion Work: Softening the inner critic and building a more supportive relationship with yourself.

  • Mindfulness and Somatic Therapies: Not only learning accessible grounding tools that respect your sensory profile, but also helping you gently reconnect with your body, building emotional awareness and a felt sense of safety.

  • Narrative Therapy: Reclaiming your story from ableism and defining your identity on your terms.
